Relief from Neck Pain Stiffness.

  • Sit in a comfortable chair
  • Feet are flat on the floor
  • Back is leaning on the back of the chair
  • Stomach muscles are gently pulled in
  • Move head in half circles. Bring chin to your chest and then move chin toward the top of one shoulder, lower chin and move to opposite shoulder.

Forward Head Flexion

  • Tuck chin as close to neck as possible
  • Place hands gently behind head
  • Flex/bend head forward hold for 10 counts
  • Repeat 5-10 times
  • Release and return to neutral position


Rotation

  • Tuck chin as close to neck as possible
  • Place one hand gently behind head and the other hand gently on the chin
  • Rotate head to the right and hold for the count of 10
  • Release and return to neutral position
  • Repeat 5-10 times
  • Repeat other side

Side Bending

  • Tuck chin as close to neck as possible
  • Place one hand gently on top of your head
  • Move head to the right (ear down to shoulder) hold for 10 counts
  • Release and return to neutral position
  • Repeat 5-10 times
  • Release and return to neutral position
  • Repeat other side


Oblique Flexion

  • Tuck chin as close to neck as possible and rotate head 45-degrees.
  • Place one hand gently on top of head
  • Bend head down to the right and hold for the count of 10
  • Release and return to neutral position
  • Repeat 5-10 times
  • Repeat other side

Oblique Extension

  • Tuck chin as close to neck as possible and rotate head 45-degrees
  • Place one hand gently on top of head
  • Bend top of head back to shoulder keeping the 45-degree angle and hold for 10 counts.
  • Release and return to neutral position
  • Repeat 5-10 times
  • Repeat other side

Important note
Range-of-Motion exercises should always be done without pain. If any of these cause pain please discontinue.
